World House Interdesign 2007 Wrap Up

The World House Interdesign has wrapped up this summer! Interdesign was hosted at George Brown College in conjunction with the International Council of Societies of Industrial Design (Icsid).

This year’s theme was on “Sustainable Housing and Water: Local and Global Challenges”. The week long event brought students, professionals and faculty in the field of design together from around the world to tackle four design challenges: the Toronto Waterfront, Downsview Park, the Weston region and Port Perry.

Mr. Bill Moggridge, co-founder of IDEO, was a guest speaker during the event and he shared ideas from his work in design innovation. Mr. Moggridge also had a chance to meet with members of the ACID board during his visit to Toronto to discuss Connecting 07 World Design Congress taking place October 17-20, 2007 in San Francisco.

2. In Memorium: Mr. André Jarry

Mr. André Jarry passed away on June 1, 2007 at the age of eighty.

Precursor of the Quebecois design, he was a professor emeritus of the University of Montreal where he founded the department of Industrial Design. His death represents a major loss for the profession of Industrial Design in Quebec. He counts among the pillars of our profession and largely contributed to its definition and its rise.

Précurseur du design québécois, il était professeur honoraire de l'Université de Montréal où il a fondé le département de design industriel. Son décès représente une perte majeure pour la profession de design industriel au Québec. Il compte parmi les piliers de notre profession et a grandement contribué à sa définition et à son essor.
